We learned today that Pres BO is calling on Spain to control government spending:
Obama Calls On Spain To Rein In Government Debt
Let's hope that Pres BO is more successful pushing his austerity message than getting allies to send troops to Afghanistan.
Since election night, or the beginning of that wonderful new relationship with the world, no country has increased troop levels in Afghanistan, except for the UK.
The world may love BO but they are not returning phone calls about sending more troops to fight in Afghanistan.
Back to BO's austerity message.
We won't blame blame PM Rod-Zapatero of Spain if he is a bit skeptical:
The United States posted an $82.69 billion deficit in April, nearly four times the $20.91 billion shortfall registered in April 2009 and the largest on record for that month, the Treasury Department said on Wednesday
I'm sure that PM Rod-Zapatero, and any other European leader, must be wondering about Pres BO's audacity.
How can the US, currently running a federal budget deficit of 12% of GDP, lecture anyone about cutting government spending?
Wonder if PM Rod-Zapatero watches episodes of The Twilight Zone?
