That Arizona law? Do some Mexican journalists suffer from AG Holder's "I have not read the bill" disease?

My favorite quote about ignorance is from Pres Lincoln:

"How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg?

Four.

Calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg."

And calling the Arizona law "racista" does not make it "racista" either!

Would you like to take a trip into the land of surreal nonsense?

Check out the coverage in the Mexican press about the Arizona law.

We ask again: Has anybody in Mexico read the Arizona law?

Or are Mexican journalists getting their information from "I have not read the bill" AG Eric Holder?

We read editorials in Mexico about all of the opposition in the US to the Arizona law.

We did not read that poll after poll shows support for the Arizona law:

"Nearly six in 10 Americans support Arizona's new law aimed at cracking down on illegal immigrants, according to a Pew Research Center poll conducted May 6-9." (PD)

Watch the video:
Arizona’s Immigration Law Is Popular In Other States

Read this about US public opinion:
Tide Turning in Favor of Immigration Law by Robert Robb!

We read idiotic comparisons to Nazi Germany.

Hitler used to send Jews to concentration camps. Arizona will return Mexicans to Mexico.

We read about how the Arizona police is going to mistreat Hispanics.

We don't read that 30-38% of Arizona's population is Hispanic. Does someone really believe that the police is going to stop 1 of every 3 drivers or citizens?

We read that Gov Brewer is "Hitler's daughter". Is that stupid or what?

We don't read that Arizona is under a wave of violence (
The Arizona Uproar) or that the state is under a huge economic crisis. We don't read that Phoenix is the kidnapping capital of the US.

And we don't read about the cost of having 500,000 illegals in your state:
Cost of Illegal Immigration Rising Rapidly in Arizona, Study Finds

Guess who got into the debate too? Pres Calderon?

We like Pres Calderon a lot. We have supported him in this blog.

Therefore, we were very disappointed to see him get on the "ignorance" bandwagon!

Pres Calderon was critical of the law, too.

Unfortunately, Pres Calderon's timing was awful.

As Pres Calderon was blasting the Arizona law, Amnesty International reminded us of that rather embarrassing truth about Mexico:

"Invisible Victims: Migrants on the Move in Mexico, documents the alarming levels of abuse faced by the tens of thousands of Central American irregular migrants that every year attempt to reach the US by crossing Mexico." (via Mexicodata.info)

We also read these news stories about Mexican immigration laws, too:

"At present, Article 67 of Mexico's Population Law says, "Authorities, whether federal, state or municipal ... are required to demand that foreigners prove their legal presence in the country, before attending to any issues." (AP)

Shouldn't Mexico cancel Article 67 before it lectures Arizona about immigration reform?

Here it goes: the Arizona law simply restates existing US immigration law.

Let me repeat: The Arizona law is simply repeating everything that is already part of the US immigration laws.

In other words, it is already "illegal" to be "illegal" in the US.

Read this signed by Pres Clinton:

"
There's a federal statute -- 8 USC 1373, passed during the Clinton years -- requiring the feds to verify a person's immigration status any time a state or local official asks for it."

Read this from
George Will or an excellent point about the Arizona law:

"
Arizona's law makes what is already a federal offense -- being in the country illegally -- a state offense.

Some critics seem not to understand Arizona's right to assert concurrent jurisdiction."

I like this from Power Line:

"
How, exactly, does Arizona's law "threaten[] to undermine basic notions of fairness"?

Why is it unfair to enforce the immigration laws?"

It's simple: It's illegal to be illegal in the US. Therefore, it is also illegal to be illegal in Arizona.

Why is something so simple so difficult?

I don't know for sure but Pres BO is desperately distracting Hispanics about that promise to pass immigration reform in year 1.

This is May of Year 2 and Pres BO has not even sent a proposal to the Congress!

"Si se puede" has sadly turned into "no se puede"!

Again, don't blame me! I voted for McCain!

Speaking of the Arizona law, read it here.

Enjoy a good laugh and watch AG Holder's shocking admission that he has not read the Arizona law! And Sec Napolitano has not read it either:
