Why is Sec Gates, rather than Pres BO, saying this?
We are very happy that Pres BO retained Sec Gates from Pres Bush's Cabinet.
It makes me feel more comfortable that Sec Gates is in the room.
Yesterday, Sec Gates said this:
""Defense Secretary Robert Gates arrived late Monday in Afghanistan with plans to assure officials and American troops there that the United States is committed to winning the war despite plans to begin pulling forces out in 2011.
"We are in this thing to win," Gates told reporters while traveling to Kabul, where he plans to meet privately with Afghan President Hamid Karzai and later with troops bearing the brunt of combat."
But where is the commander in chief? the guy who won the election?
Shouldn't Pres BO be up-front saying this?
The answer is that he is afraid to upset the anti-war base that got him nominated!
