Rich Harden may have us saying "Oh Canada" in 2010!
Brenden Morrow of The Dallas Stars is he most popular Canadian in North Texas.
He is a wonderful hockey player to watch.....and don't you love his new car dealer commercial? I crack up everytime I see it!
Nevertheless, Morrow may have a little competition next spring and summer.
Rich Harden is now a Ranger! He was on my wish list at the beginning of the winter meetings!
On the plus side, Harden is 28. He is 50-29 with a 3.39 ERA since coming to the majors in 2003.
We know a lot about Harden around here because he was lights out against the Rangers!
On the bad side, he has been injured over the last two seasons.
The Rangers were smart and did not commit beyond one season. Rick will earn $6.5 million in 2010 with another $3.5 million in incentives.
We are hoping that Rick earns the extra $3.5 million.....it means that he is having a good year!
Go Rick! Earn the incentives! Welcome to North Texas!
P.S. I agree with in Kevin Sherrington's column: Texas Rangers headed in right direction with low-key moves
"No matter who ends up owning the team, the club needs to continue the path taken by Ryan and Jon Daniels, particularly this week."
Unlike previous years, Texas is not trading the young guys and adding some decent veterans.
Nolan Ryan made the point last year when he refused to trade Derek Holland to Toronto for Roy Halladay. (I remember posting about that last year: Memo to Nolan Ryan: No way that you trade Derek Holland!)
I like that strategy and it began to pay off in 2009 and those 87 wins!
