Is it the sun? What exactly is causing gobal warming?
What if the sun did it?
What if the sun, not capitalism and prosperity, is responsible for global warming?
IBD has a great editorial: Here Comes The Sun
"Scientists at Zurich's Federal Institute of Technology have found that solar activity caused Alpine glaciers to melt in the 1940s at rates faster than today's pace, even though it's warmer now.
The study found that the sun in the 1940s was 8% stronger than average and far more powerful than it is today.
It also concluded that solar activity was weaker from the 1950s to the 1980s, an era in which the glaciers advanced.
The Swiss researchers are spinning their own work, saying that the evidence doesn't mean the public can stop worrying about man-made warming.
But their finding validates other researchers who have said solar activity has a far greater impact on temperatures than human CO2 emissions."
I guess that the science is not settled after all!
We insist on full hearing with scientists from both sides.
We want a real debate with charts and experts making their case.
For now, all we have is unproven stories about bears drowning!
I need more information and less politics about global warming.
P.S. In the meantime, the Copenhagen conference is one big circus:
"Danish police fired pepper spray and beat protesters with batons outside the U.N. climate conference on Wednesday, as disputes inside left major issues unresolved just two days before world leaders hope to sign a historic agreement to fight global warming.
With the talks so clearly deadlocked, Connie Hedegaard, former Danish climate minister, resigned from the conference presidency to allow her boss, Danish Prime Minister Lars Loekke Rasmussen to preside as world leaders from 115 nations streamed into Copenhagen.
She was to continue overseeing the closed-door negotiations." (AP)
