On Sunday, the good people of Honduras voted "yes" for their country and "no" for Hugo Chavez's despicable attempt to overthrown their system.
"Porfirio “Pepe” Lobo has emerged as the new President of the Republic to govern the Country of Honduras during the years 2010-2014.
According to the TSE, more than 61.85% of registered Hondurans came out to vote on Sunday, a historic record.
The announcement from the TSE received a standing ovation from the attentive room of official observers and spectators."
Good news!
We are not partisans about Honduras politics. We are not attached to one political party or the other.
At the same time, we do support the electoral process, the rule of law and constitutions!
Again, Honduras did well on Sunday and sent a loud message to those who did not understand what was happening in their country.
Like Mexico in 2006, Honduras has shown that it can run a clean and orderly election. (Check El Heraldo in Honduras!)
Like Mexico, I do expect the left to make some noise!
Zelaya will probably find a strong ally in Mexico's Lopez Obrador and the rest of the clownish left!
We hope that Pres Calderon, a serious guy, does not welcome Zelaya again! We also hope that Pres Uribe, the other serious guy, steps up and welcomes what just happened in Honduras!
In the end, it was good that the Obama administration reversed course and supported the constitution and people of Honduras!

Ed Morrissey has a good post on the election:
"And so we come to the ultimate irony of the entire sordid mess that Obama himself largely created.
Obama refused to accept the legality of Zelaya’s removal because Obama considered it an affront to democracy, even though Zelaya violated the Honduran constitution and the Honduran parliament and Supreme Court followed the law in having him removed from office.
Thanks to that self-defeating and intellectually vapid policy, Obama has undermined actual democracy in Honduras by giving Brazil, Venezuela, and Nicaragua an opening to ignore the results of a regularly scheduled and honest election and to force Honduras to put a lawbreaker back into office against the will of its people.
If Obama had deliberately strategized a way to undermine democracy in Latin America, he could not have done any better than this."

I like Congratulations to the Little Country That Could by Rick Richman:
"The Obama administration deserves credit for finally recognizing that its misguided policy had reached a dead end and reversing course before it was too late.
It is a lesson the administration could profitably apply in other foreign-policy areas as well."
