Who is going to tell Pres BO that we can't afford health care?

Dick Morris has a good post on the cost of health care:

"The insurance industry estimates that the bill will drive up premiums for the average family by $1,700 a year.

By the time the bill takes effect in 2013, it estimates that the average annual family health insurance premiums (now $12,300) will rise to $17,200 if the Obama bill is passed, but only to $15,500 if it is defeated." (Morris)

However, we may never get there because the deficit could end up being a blessing a disguise, specially for those of us who don't think that we can afford another entitlement.

Check out this headline in The NY Times: $1.4 Trillion Deficit Complicates Stimulus Plans

"Investors who are essential to financing the debt, including China and other foreign interests, are eager for signs that the government will eventually regain control over its budgets."

How can we persuade investors, or those holding US treasuries, that we are serious about this deficit by creating another entitlement?

DAVID WESSEL has a great post: Deficit Dilemma: How to Dig Out?

"For the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, the final deficit tally will be about $1.4 trillion.

Measured against the size of the economy, that's 9.9% of gross domestic product, bigger than any year since 1945."

How do we dig out?

We can start by "quitting digging"!

"From health care to economic recovery to the Afghanistan war, the government's gloomy fiscal condition is constraining Democrats.

Deficits also are looming large as a political issue in the 2010 campaign, as voters fret about the long-term consequences of mounting debt."

Someone needs to tell Pres BO that it's time to put his ambitious domestic agenda aside, at least until we can create jobs and do something tangible about this deficit.

First, we can't sustain these deficits. Second, the public is a lot more worried about debt than health care! Third, the voters are are angry: Harris poll puts Obama approval at 45%
