Charlie Cook, elections analyst, has a tough message for Dems:
"Most House Democrats live in blue America and show little awareness that their party has a problem.
However, the Democrats' majority is built on a layer of 54 seats that the party picked up in 2006 and 2008 that are largely in purple -- or even red -- America.
Democrats ought to keep in mind that 84 of their current House members represent districts won by President Bush in 2004 or John McCain in 2008.
A whopping 48 of those Democrats -- eight more than the size of their party's majority -- are from districts that voted for both Bush and McCain.
That America is very different from the Democratic base in blue America, and it sees many major issues very differently."
Let me translate: There are about 50-100 Dems who are very vulnerable in 2010!
This is why Pres BO is having so much trouble lining up support for "the public option".
It is not playing well between NY City and LA, all of that red territory that voted for McCain in 2008! (ObamaCare hits highest disapproval rate yet)
ACORN is also radioactive for these Dems.
This is why so many of them voted to cut federal funding:
"The vote, on a provision attached to a student aid bill, was 345-75, with Democrats supplying all the "no" votes........On Monday the Senate voted 83-7 to deny housing and community grant funding......" (AP)
That's a lot Dems cutting ties with ACORN!
Who were these Dems who cut ties with ACORN?
Michael Barone looked at them and confirms what Charlie Cook wrote about the many vulnerable Dems:
"By my calculation, that means the average vote in the districts of the 345 members who voted to defund ACORN was about 50%-48% for McCain.
As indicated by members' votes, mainstream America was clearly repulsed by the facts that "mainstream media" tried to conceal."
Again, there are lots of vulnerable Dems and they want nothing to do with ACORN!
The ACORN videos could not have come at a worse time for Pres BO.
We saw ACORN employees talking about having contacts in Tijuana, Mexico to bring "under age girls" to the US for prostitution.
The employee is lucky. ACORN is not so lucky because it will be investigated from promoting "tax cheating" to "under age prostitution".
Why does that hurt Dems? Everybody knows that ACORN is in the business of getting people to vote Dem.
What's the Dems new slogan: ACORN who?
Last, but not least, ACORN is closely tied to BO!
ACORN and "the public option" are now the Dems' biggest electoral challenges heading into the 2010 midterm elections.
P.S. McCain tried to tie BO to ACORN. Unfortunately, the media showed no interest in investigating the BO-ACORN connection.
The Dems won't be so lucky in 2010, specially with comedians doing this to ACORN:
