Let's talk about about our favorite traveling diplomat, the one who used to say that BO wasn't ready for the 3am phone call!
She made very inappropriate remarks about US elections.
Michael Goodwin has a good post about it:
"Whatever Clinton thinks of that outcome - she might have mentioned Bubba's dalliance with Monica Lewinsky if she wanted to give a full campaign recap - it was puerile nonsense to bring it up in an African nation that has never had a peaceful and fair transition of presidential power.
Nigerians would be thankful for any election that didn't involve the army and stacks of corpses.
Instead, they get childish bromides about American flaws"
Let's make two points about Sec Clinton's election remarks.
First, did any Republican Sec of State ever go overseas and talk about Kennedy's victory over Nixon in 1960?
Or what happened in Chicago that night?
Or what happened in Alabama that day?
Read John Fund for a little history of the 1960 election and how JFK won by 114,000 votes out of 76 million cast!
Republicans got over 1960.....can these people get over 2000?
Secondly, why didn't Sec Clinton bring up her husband's reckless behavior, a key factor in turning off married women who voted for Bush rather than Gore.
Frankly, we would prefer "no comments" from Sec Clinton, or any other Sec of State, about US elections.
However, Nigerians desrerve a full picture, such as Clinton's inability to deliver his home state of Arkansas or Gore's loss in Tennessee.
Why blame Jeb Bush over the fact that Al Gore could not win his home state?
Tell the whole story rather than taking another cheap shot at the Bush family.
Again, when will some Dems get over Bush and start governing?
Unfortunately, you will start hearing a lot about the 2000 elections for two reasons:
2) The left is now furious with Obama over GITMO, adopting Bush's policy in Iraq and now they will soon get very mad about health care! (Facing health-care oblivion, the left finally wonders: “Who really is Barack Obama?”)
Get ready for a revival of every 2000 conspiracy ever heard, as well as some that you have not even heard yet!
In the meantime, could Sec Clinton stop talking about US elections in Nigeria and call Sen Leahy and demand the prompt release of funds under The Merida Plan!
