Rangers and Red Sox play a big series this weekend!
We are not accustomed to meaningful mid-August baseball games around here.
In fact, you have to go back to 2004.....before that you have to go back to 1996, 1998 and 1999 when the Rangers won the AL West!
Tonight, Boston comes in for a 3 game series that will have a huge impact on the AL Wild Card race.
The Rangers are here because of pitching.
Let me repeat: pitching!
They have 3 of the best young arms in the AL with Scott Feldman, Derek Holland and Tommy Hunter.
He is incredible and another young guy who came in the Texeira trade.
We sent Texeira to Atlanta and got Andrus, Harrison, Saltalamachia and Feliz.
In other words, our 20-year old starting shortstop, a 22- year old left handed starter, our 23-year old everyday catcher and a very young guy who throws 100 mph. (Did I miss someone? Is this highway robbery or what?)
Two years later, I think that we got the best of that deal:
"hitting .486 (18-for-37) with six doubles, a home run, eight RBIs and five walks in his past 10 games. He has had two consecutive multi-extra-base-hit games."
Hamilton spent much of the first half on the DL. He's got his timing back and could carry the team down the stretch:
Baseball is king around here. I plan to watch the Boston-Texas series!
