We understand that Pres Calderon is down in Uruguay.
We can't blame him for going south and travelling a thousand miles away from Washington DC.
Incredibly, Pres Calderon faces three challenges:
1) the local economy;
2) the war against the cartels;
and worst of all,
3) Pres BO and the left wing of the Dem party.
Pres Obama's victory emboldened the "left wing"! They put abortion in the health care plan under discussion. They shut down Mexican trucks. And they will kill the free trade agreement with Colombia!
Pres Obama now faces some tough choices:
He can allow the "left wing", led by Sen Leahy, to preach to Mexico about "human rights"!
Or, he can stand up to the left, shut down the "human rights" nonsense and force the Dems to see the big picture in Mexico's war against the cartels.
What will Pres BO do?
We don't know.
Unfortunately, BO has not shown that he will stand up to anybody. He sat and took in Rev Wright's racist sermons! He let the the unions force him to sign "a stimulus plan" that put the US in violation of NAFTA.
What can Mexico look forward to?
Let's hope that ANDRES OPPENHEIMER is right: Obama may have learned from summit!
Otherwise, Pres Calderon will have to fight BO and the Dems, along with everything else happening south of the border!
The Washington Post has a great editorial: Mexico's Drug War---
Why U.S. funding to help the government should stay on schedule:
Why U.S. funding to help the government should stay on schedule:
"The United States agreed to provide Mexico and neighboring countries with $1.4 billion in aid to help combat the cartels, yet tens of millions of dollars could be lost because of a standoff between the State Department and Sen. Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.)."
The editorial goes on:
"The United States can best assist by providing all of the aid promised -- and promptly."
By the way, where is Sec of State Clinton? Where has she been hiding since she asked Mexicans "who painted your virgin"?
I guess that she is been busy reminding everyone that she is the Sec of State rather than her husband.
OK? Why doesn't Sec Clinton start acting like one? We need Sec Clinton at Sen Leahy's office!
What in the world is more important to our national security than the war going on south of the border? Pres BO, Sec Clinton and the rest of us should be 100% committed to seeing Mexico succeed in this war against the cartels!
P.S. We remind you again that BO is a protectionist:
