The Rangers brought Ivan Rodriguez back today. Ivan was the best catcher in the AL from 1991 to 2002. He was the AL MVP in '99. He was one of the key players in the 1996, 1998 & 1999 teams that won the AL West.
Ivan left after the 2002 season, primarily because of money and a feeling that his better days were behind him.
The Rangers made a huge mistake in letting Ivan go. He was one of the most popular players ever!
How popular was Ivan? Every kid around here wanted the # 7 jersey and play catcher.
Ivan played with the world champ Marlins in 2003. He returned to the world series with Detroit n 2006.
He is a lifetime .299 hitter and has hit 300 hrs! Beyond numbers, Ivan is one of the most fan-friendly players in baseball!
