Dear Pres BO: Can you tell us where you really stand?

As state senator in Illinois, BO represented a very liberal district.

So this is what he told a group of liberal supporters back then:

"“I happen to be a proponent of single-payer, universal health care plans.” (from HotAir)

First, isn't it clear that he favors a single payer plan?

Second, why didn't the news media challenge him about this during the election.

I'm surprised that this video did not surface until August 2009.

The White House is attacking critics and saying that BO's words are being manipulated.

How are we manipulating his words?

Aren't we just quoting him or playing the video?

GERALD F. SEIB has a good post today about the state of health care in the US:

"I hate the health-care system -- but don't you dare mess with it.

That's a pretty apt summary of the American mind-set about health care -- and not just now, but for decades."

In the abstract, everybody is in favor of providing insurance. In reality, no one wants to give up what they have in exchange for something that even Pres BO can not explain.

Campaigns are about abstract promises. Governing is about details.

Pres BO can not even explain his own program.

This is BO's dilemma. It was the same dilemma that Clinton faced.

P.S. Here is the video from 2003:
