The first picture is from Iran today.
The second picture is women voting in Iraq's elections in January. We remind you that 4,000 women ran for provincial positions in Iraq!
We posted about the Iraq elections: We are still waiting for the world's "feminists" to praise the women of Iraq!
We admired the provincial elections in Iraq a few months ago: Another word on the Iraq election
What was amazing about all of those pictures from Iraq? What is remarkable about today's scenes from Iran?
The first answer is women. The second answer is women!
Have you seen the TV scenes of women marching and standing up to an inhumane regime? They call them: THE HEROINES OF IRAN!
For years, many liberals mocked Pres Bush's argument that freedom was contagious. They said that these countries were not ready for democracy or elections! Nevertheless, Pres Bush insisted and demanded for recognition of women's rights in the region.
I agree with KIRK PETERSEN:
"If the Bush Administration had not planted democracies (albeit still troubled democracies) in Iraq and Afghanistan, it’s inconceivable to me that so many Iranians would risk their lives and their freedom for an idealistic vision that did not yet exist in their neighborhood.
Just as it was inconceivable that Libya would renounce its nuclear ambitions in the absence of a credible threat."
Freedom, and women voting, is indeed very contagious.
Just ask the women of Iran!
P.S. They call it The Lipstick Revolution:
"Up until 1980, when the Ayatollah Khomeini forced them to trade Chanel for chadors, Persian women were regarded as among the most lovely and stylish in the world.
Since then the country's bizarre theocracy has made simple pleasures like wearing makeup or showing off hair grounds for imprisonment (or far worse).
Here we salute Persian women as they fight for freedom—and femininity—once again."
