Why is Texas doing well in the middle of a recession?

What do California, Michigan, NY, PA and a few others have in common?

Taxes are high and no one in their right mind wants to open a business there.

What about Texas?

Texas is still growing and taking in lots of "economic refugees" from high tax states.

Why is that? Check out Texas v. Ohio:

"Texas embraces free trade, keeps taxes low, doesn't impose unions on business and has tooled itself for 21st century global competition."

Last week, the Texas legislature shot down a bunch of anti-business ideas. It was made possible by conservative Dems who understand how jobs are created.

The WSJ has a good summary of the situation:

"Speaking of the economy, it's notable that Texas created more new jobs last year than the other 49 states combined.

Texas's low tax burden is one reason.

But also important is a fairer legal environment in which companies are less likely than they were a generation ago to face jackpot justice."

Welcome to Texas.

We like producers. We love employers. We don't like taxes. We believe in making it easy for companies to be profitable and expand their operations.

We understand how jobs are created!
