We have not posted much on the Stars lately. I guess that's what happens when your team is not playing in the playoffs.
Today, we got good news: Joe Nieuwendyk is back with the Dallas Stars!
Why Joe now?
"Dallas Stars Owner Thomas O. Hicks announced today that he has restructured the NHL club’s hockey management staff, naming Joe Nieuwendyk as the team’s new General Manager.
As part of the reorganization, Co-General Managers Brett Hull and Les Jackson have been reassigned within the organization into positions that focus on their respective strengths.
Hull will serve as Executive Vice President and Alternate Governor while Les Jackson will return to his long-time role as Director of Scouting and Player Development."
We love Brett Hull around here. He was a great Star. He scored the winning shot in the triple over time win over Buffalo ten years ago.
Why Joe as GM?
First, Joe Nieuwendyk is a winner. He has won here, there and everywhere.
Joe won the Stanley Cup for Calgary in 1989, Dallas in 1999, New Jersey in 2003!
Joe will pass that winning attitude to the young guys! Joe has 3 rings to prove that his way works!
Second, the Stars are not that far. They will have Morrow back. They have some quick and youthful players.
This is a great move. I can't wait for the season. I guess that we have to wait for the Pittsburgh-Detroit series to finish.
P.S. Joe Nieuwendyk was one of the key pieces in the Stanley Cup teams! It's great to remember Joe in these videos:
