Dems reel on healthcare
Rural Dems have beef with Obama
Stimulus serves up Obama pork
No golden eggs to pay for Obamacare
Obama's Spending Plans May Pose Political Risks
So what's going?
Most of these Dems will have to defend Pres BO's deficits in 2010!
We like what Michael Goodwin just wrote:
"Dem gains in the last two elections came primarily from conservative-leaning districts and some members already are worried about re-election.
If the tide turns against Obama, they could be in trouble."
In other words, these new members of the House did not run as liberals. In some cases, they ran against deficit spending!
I agree with
"The gamble appears to have failed miserably, both economically and politically.
The terrible tale of the tape:
a) the current downturn is arguably the worse since the Great Depression;
b) household wealth has fallen by $14 trillion during the past two years, including the first quarter of 2009;
c) while the economy may not shrink as much this quarter as it did in the previous three months (-5.7 percent) or the final quarter of 2008 (-6.3 percent), unemployment is soaring;
d) Obama himself said the jobless rate will hit 10 percent this year;
d) even worse, the Federal Reserve sees it approaching 11 percent next year.
(Recall, that the original White House economic analysis of the Obama economic plan never saw unemployment exceeding 8 percent if Obamanomics was passed by Congress.)
Falling public support."
Every Dem running in 2010 is completely aware of the "falling public support"!
Michael Barone, one of the nation's premier political pundits and a straight arrow as well, sees a lot of trouble for Pres BO:
"For all the favorable coverage he’s gotten on mainstream media, Barack Obama seems to be having a hard time selling the American public on his policies."
That's right!
Despite a media in the tank, the country is not buying what BO is selling:
"● 69% say they have a great deal or quite a bit of concern about government ownership of General Motors and a 56%-35% majority opposes government aid to General Motors in return for a share of its stock
● 58% say the president and Congress should concentrate on keeping the budget deficit down, even if it takes longer for the economy to recover
● when presented with arguments for and against a government health insurance plan, it was favored by only a 47%-42% margin
● when asked the most important economic issue facing the country, 24% chose the budget deficit and only 11% chose health care
● a 52%-39% majority opposes closing the prison at Guantanamo Bay
Or consider these findings from the CBS/New York Times poll:● when asked to volunteer the most important problem facing the country, 38% said the economy, 19% said jobs and 7% said health care
● only 44% approve Obama’s handling of health care, while 34% disapprove
● only 41% approve his handling of the problems facing the auto industry, while 46% disapprove
● by a 52%-41% margin they prefer reducing the budget deficit to stimulating the economy
● only 30% think Obama has developed a clear plan for dealing with the budget deficit, while 60% believe he hasn’t."
BO is headed for some harsh reality.
