Dear BO: How are you going to talk to a regime that shot a young woman?

This is the Iran that Pres Bush once referred to as an evil country.

This is a nation that kills people and threatens to wipe out Israel.

This is also the same nation that Pres BO promised to talk and engage with.

Reality is once again stepping on BO's presidency. It was a lot easier to be a community organizer, wasn't it?

What in the world are we going to talk about with Iran? What's on the agenda? What do you talk about with a nation that kills its people, such as the young woman named Neda.

Some Democrats are getting nervous about meetings with Iran, specially those with ties to Israel. As Ben Smith reports:

"But even analysts sympathetic with Obama’s careful approach to Iran have begun to doubt whether any engagement with Ayatollah Khamenei and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad can be sustained, regardless of what the White House says now."

Pres BO's massive ego is headed for an attitude adjustment. I agree with Jenniffer Rubin:

"Until now his foreign policy was premised on the mistaken notion that fundamental differences with despotic regimes were going to melt once he arrived on the scene and engaged in “smart” diplomacy — which consisted primarily of trying not to antagonize them."

Our president, a first term senator from Illinois without any executive or diplomatic experience, has a lot to learn about the real world. I agree with FOUAD AJAMI: Obama's Persian Tutorial

Pres BO is going to learn a lot about the Middle East over the next few days. Let's hope that he understands just how misguided his view of Iran really is!
