Aren't you tired of BO and the Dems playing identity politics?

The Dems are the party of "quotas", "identify politics" and people who can't stop griping.

I'd rather be a member of the party of "opportunity".

I'd rather be with people who like their country and its free market heritage. Also, I'd like to be around people who don't think that we have a thing to apologize for. (There are 9,000 US servicemen buried in Normandy. What should we apologize for?)

In other words, I don't care about gender or skin color. I do care about quality and competence.

Over the years, I've been a plaintiff and defendant.

What did I look for in a judge?

Give me a good judge who understands his or her role in our system. I don't care whether his or her grandparents came from Puerto Rico or Poland.

"But turning such appointments into political payback for an ethnic group or gender makes an unseemly spectacle.

It undermines real achievements and infantilizes the candidate."

Pres BO is all about identity pol tics. In Sonia Sotomayor, he has found a nominee who is very comfortable with identity politics.

I like Jennffer Rubin's post:

"As Thernstrom points out, the pick tells us much about the president.

He could have chosen a “diversity” pick who didn’t identify with the race-conscious civil rights lobby.

And he could have picked someone who was renowned for legal scholarship. Instead, he made a conscious choice to pick Sotomayor, who is openly contemptuous of the idea of judicial impartiality and who revels in identity politics.

We must conclude that despite Obama’s campaign rhetoric this nominee is compatible with his views on judging as an exercise in empathy and with his broader views on race.

Otherwise he could have chosen someone else, right?"

I remind my Republican friends, and supporters of a limited judiciary, to be patient.

Let Sotomayor speak.

Let her explain her opinions and quotes.

I have a funny feeling that she is going to be a bigger headache for Dems than they realize!
