Sara Carter has been doing some great work on the US-Mexico border.
"U.S. counterterrorism officials have authenticated a video by an al Qaeda recruiter threatening to smuggle a biological weapon into the United States via tunnels under the Mexico border, the latest sign of the terrorist group's determination to stage another mass-casualty attack on the U.S. homeland.
The video aired earlier this year as a recruitment tool makes clear that al Qaeda is looking to exploit weaknesses in U.S. border security and also is willing to ally itself with white militia groups or other anti-government entities interested in carrying out an attack inside the United States, according to counterterrorism officials interviewed by The Washington Times. "
Why is this a credible threat?
First, Al Qaeda is still at war with the US. They didn't go back to writing poetry because we changed Bush for BO.
Second, Mexico has historically done a poor job of protecting its northern border.
Mexico has usually seen the US-Mex border as a back door to let go of thousands who can't find work.
To be fair, Pres Calderon has waged a courageous war against cartels.
However, Mexico's military is stretched thin. Corruption makes Mexico a place where Al Qaeda can buy access and protection.
To make matters worse, BO's administration seems more interested in pleasing "trucking unions" than in providing Calderon the full amount under The Merida Plan. Mexico's courageous military need these resources but Nancy Pelosi and the Dems are lost in pandering to unions!
I am not convinced that Pres BO is interested in Mexico! Unfortunately, Al Qaeda is!
