This morning, we woke up to a reality check regarding the war on terror and releasing GITMO terrorists in the US: Synagogue Terror Plot in NYC...
Wait a minute. I thought that terrorists would go back to coaching youth soccer now that BO apologized to the world for our past mistakes!
Today, we also learned this:
"A long-awaited Defense Department report, publication of which is apparently being held up by politics, reportedly finds that one in seven detainees released from Guantanamo Bay has again engaged in terrorist acts." (Dispatches From the Front)
The war on terror is alive and well, even if the Obama administration has changed its name.
In a previous post about Pres Obama's flip-flops, I asked this question:
During the presidential campaign, many of us were a bit shocked to see a presidential candidate make "naive" national security statements.
How else do you explain his promise to close GITMO without explaining what he would do with 250 of the world's AAA terrorists?
How else do you explain his idiotic comment to meet unconditionally with the world's bad guys?
Worse than that, we were appalled to see people jumping up and down reaffirming the candidate's irresponsible remarks.
How do you change a naive candidate? How do you make him appreciate all of those Bush policies that he criticized so much?
You elect him.
You make him responsible for the nation's security.
It's amazing what the daily intelligence briefing will do! It's remarkable how smart Bush looks now!
P.S. This is a little background material:
KARL ROVE wrote a good column on Pres BO and the flip-flops:
"Barack Obama inherited a set of national-security policies that he rejected during the campaign but now embraces as president.
This is a stunning and welcome about-face."
"When it comes to the war on terror, or what his administration has re-branded the "Overseas Contingency Operation," President Obama has matured quickly and has come to grips with some unpleasant realities.
Too bad the same can't be said about some of his disillusioned supporters, especially pundits and others in the media.
They expected the president to repudiate George W. Bush's policies, not adopt them as his own."
