First, you go out and get to the left of Hillary Clinton in the Dem primaries.
Second, you make a bunch of idiotic campaign promises before the "yes we can" screamers.
Then you win the election and you have to govern....hello reality....this is where the story goes from "community organizer" to "commander in chief" responsible for the security of the nation!
From GITMO to Iraq to unconditional meetings with leaders of rogue states, Pres BO is having a few problems fulfilling those campaign promises from the "yes we can" days.
Let's talk GITMO.
It's great to close it but what are you going to do with the people there?
Now, it's the photos, the Abu Gharib photos.
Everybody knows what happened at Abu Gharib. Unfortunately, the prison staff lost its professionalism and engaged in awful behavior.
It was wrong and people have been prosecuted.
At the end of the day, it is a minuscule number compared to the unbelievable professionalism of the US armed forces. We have maintained 150,000 in Iraq for almost 6 years. They are the most disciplined military force ever.
Back to the photos.
It looks like sanity has prevailed at the White House:
Obama reverses on releasing photos
President Obama Reverses Course on Releasing More Detainee Abuse Photographs
My guess is that Sec Gates and other military men explained to the president how damaging these photos would be for morale.
Pres BO is already at war with the CIA....why get into a war with the Pentagon?
Also, how do you release photos that make US soldiers look bad and then ask these same soldiers to fight a bloody war in Afghanistan or Pakistan?
Thank God that Pres BO changed his mind. Now, let's hope that he does something similar about GITMO.

P.S. Pres BO may be changing his mind on GITMO, too. The WSJ is reporting today that a change may be coming: Indefinite Detention Weighed
I'm OK with the changes. I understand that you have to hold some of these people indefinitely for national security reasons. After all, we are not talking about poets and songwriters in this group!
At the same time, I am not a "yes we can" screamer who spent the last 18 months jumping up and down every time that candidate BO made a stupid campaign promise!
