Here is the good news:
Pres & Mrs. Obama are an attractive couple and look good on the world stage.
Here is the bad news: The Euros will send a few translators and trainers to Afghanistan. I'm sure that The Taleban is really worried now: The French translators are coming, along with their croissants and coffee!
No troops for Afghanistan: Barack Obama fails to win Nato troops he wants for Afghanistan
Beyond that, what in the world is Pres Obama telling the Europeans?
What Rev Wright sermon inspired Pres BO's comments in Europe?
How dare this man say that the US is arrogant?
How can you be arrogant by defending the Europeans? It would have been a little better if Pres BO had told the Euros to grow up and get serious about the threats we face.
IBD got it right:
"Sixty-one years to the day after Truman signed the Marshall Plan rebuilding war-torn Europe, President Obama apologizes to French youth for U.S. arrogance.
Our defense of freedom is no shame." (Echo Of Europe)
I agree with Jim Hoagland: Now It's Obama's World----The Listener in Chief Needs to Start Acting!
Back to the arrogant remark. Pres BO needs to understand that the young men who "volunteer" to defend the US are also listening to his Euro-remarks.
If we are arrogant then the Euros are a bunch of (expletive) (double expletive) ingrates.
Since 1945, the US has protected Europe.
We kept Soviet tanks from driving into Western Europe.
How did we do that?
We parked an awesome military force in Europe. Let's not forget the US Mediterranean Fleet.
We didn't do it by singing French songs or admiring Dutch paintings.
Don't get me wrong.
I like French songs and Dutch paintings but enough is enough about all of this anti-Americanism.
Who protects their airspace against Iranian or North Korean missiles?
It's not the French Air Force!
What happened recently between Pres Bush and Europe?
In 2003, we learned that France and Germany were in the tank for Saddam Hussein. Just read about the Oil for Food Program!
We love Charles Krauthammer's PG-13 comments about the Euros:
