This is where we are in the US-Cuba relationship:
Pres BO wants to change and the Castro brothers want to get bailed out.
Pres BO must resist the temptation to be popular. Instead, the US should support Cuban dissidents.
"We have long supported lifting the embargo as a way of accelerating that process.
But the demoralized Cuban people also need international solidarity.
Economically engaging the regime while ignoring the hundreds of political prisoners and millions trapped in squalor would betray the cause of Cuban liberty.
To that end, the most useful thing Mr. Obama can do at this weekend's Summit of the Americas is to call on other leaders to denounce the regime's human rights violations."
That's right.
Call on other Lat Am leaders to stand with the Cuban people rather than just take cheap shots at the US embargo.
As we have written before, the US Embargo did not create Cuba's economic problems.
Cuba's horrible economy is "Made by Castro".
The US should remind Lat Am countries that we all need to support the jailed Cuban dissidents!
