(Michael Young and those new red Rangers' jerseys)
Let's say a cheer for Michael Young. You can always count on Michael Young to drive in a key run or make a great play.
On Sunday, Young ended the game with a 9th inning home run. Unfortunately, the Rangers dropped 3 in Detroit and 4 of 6 at home.
Didn't I post a couple of weeks ago that the April schedule would favor the home team? Not yet but.....there are still another 10 games left this month.
The 5-7 Rangers are off to play the 10-4 Toronto Blue Jays.
What could go wrong in Toronto? Quite a bit! The Rangers do not play well up there. It must be astroturf.
The Blue Jays have underachieved for a couple of years. They have the best right hander in the AL in Halladay. He usually nails the Rangers and he will start the series on Tuesday!
The Rangers have gotten off to horrible starts in Ron Washington's first two years as manager.
My guess is that Washington won't survive another slow start.
So it's early and no one panics in April. However, the Rangers have not played the tough teams yet and they are underachieving.
Again, it's not Ron Washington's fault. However, someone has to get fired when a team doesn't play well.
In the meantime, we do love Michael Young's incredible ability to hit a home run when it matters most!
