We didn't vote for BO. However, we gave him the benefit of the doubt on being a "new Democrat".
Some of us were hoping for a "Nixon to China" moment on public education.
After all, who denies that our inner city schools are a mess?
Who gets hurt? The answer is poor black and Hispanic kids!

On education, I subscribe to whatever works rather than a left or right ideology.
It was very disappointing to hear this:
"Education Secretary Arne Duncan has decided not to admit any new students to the D.C. voucher program, which allows low-income children to attend private schools." (Rubin)
In the end, it was political considerations.
The teachers' unions don't like anything that messes up with their monopoly.
