Pres BO missed a great opportunity to promote freedom and trade

It's a shame that Pres BO didn't see that Chavez, Ortega, Castro and Morales would use him!

Frankly, Latin America needs a US leader who stands for freedom and more trade. Unfortunately, our BO is too eager to sit back and shake hands.

Mary Anastasia O'Grady makes this point:

"If President Barack Obama's goal at the fifth Summit of the Americas in Trinidad and Tobago this weekend was to be better liked by the region's dictators and left-wing populists than his predecessor George W. Bush, the White House can chalk up a win.

If, on the other hand, the commander in chief sought to advance American ideals, things didn't go well."

I guess that this is what happens when you don't believe in US exceptional ism.

Ortega, Castro, et al represent everything that is wrong with Lat America.

I understand that Chavez was elected. Does that make him more responsible? No.

We must promote freedom and free trade. This is what Lat Am needs now more than ever!

Back to Mrs. O'Grady. What if:

"Imagine if Mr. Obama asked for a show of hands to find out who believes Cubans are less deserving of freedom than, say, the black majority in South Africa under apartheid or Chileans during the Pinochet dictatorship."

As I posted before, everybody is obsessed with the Cuban Embargo. Nobody seems to care about the prisoners in the island.

They love BO now because he's not Bush. They will hate him later because BO is the president of the US!
