What was the point of voting for the anti-war candidate?
Not much, unless you are the type that votes for people who tell you what you want to hear!
Pres BO today sounds a lot like Pres Bush or Sen McCain.
He can't come out and say: The surge worked!
He can't do it because the left wing will eat him alive.
However, Pres BO is clearly ready and willing to follow the Bush-McCain policy in Iraq.
"Prior to his Iraq visit, the President was asked by a Turkish student whether his Iraq policies were fairly close in substance to George W. Bush's.
"Well, just because I was opposed at the outset, it doesn't mean that I don't have now responsibilities to make sure we do things in a responsible fashion," Mr. Obama replied.
We'll mark that down as a "yes."
On Iraq, candidate BO told a lot of "yes we can" screamers what they wanted to hear about the war and having unconditional meetings with the world's bad guys.
As President, he is finding out that governing is a lot more complicated than campaigning.
