We understand that Pres BO met with Pres Uribe.
Let's hope that Speaker Pelosi will allow Pres BO to complete the Colombia Free Trade Agreement.
"During a presidential debate in October, then-Sen. Obama said:
"The history in Colombia right now is that labor leaders have been targeted for assassination on a fairly consistent basis and there have not been prosecutions."
We understand that Colombia has suffered through a lot of violence lately. Unfortunately, too much of this violence was and is "drug related".
At the same time, Pres Uribe has stood up to the cartels and bad guys.
So are the Dems correct that Colombia is unsafe for labor leaders?
Not really.
This is not about the safety of labor leaders. This is another silly connection between labor leaders in the US and the protectionist Dems.
It's time for Pres BO to pay as much attention to Alvaro Uribe as he does Chavez and Castro. In the end, Colombian trade is a lot more important than giving the Castro brothers a lifeline.
