Today, we remember that Babe Ruth was born 114 years ago today.
Ruth was the greatest professional athlete of the 20th century. He saved baseball in the 1920's after the White Sox World Series scandal. It was Ruth and his majestic homeruns that put people in the seats.
He set the season home run record in 1927.
He set the all time record home run record, a mark that stood until Aaron passed him in 1974.
Cuban born Manuel Márquez-Sterling is Professor Emeritus of History at Plymouth State University.
He is also a huge baseball fan.
He recalls how Ruth was so popular in Cuba and throughout the Caribbean.
