Reality about Iraq has finally caught up with Obama!

Obama became the darling of the Dems because he ran to the left of Hillary Clinton on Iraq.

Obama was everything that an anti-war base could have dreamed of.

Obama told them what they wanted to hear.

Obama told them that he would end the war by withdrawing troops.

Why are the Dems so quiet about Iraq these days? Why has Iraq disappeared from our front pages? Why is Obama having so many problems with his latest definition of an Iraq War policy?

The answer is that we are winning. In fact, the coalition has beaten the crap out of Al Qaeda.

Check this from London's TimesOnline:

"American and Iraqi forces are driving Al-Qaeda in Iraq out of its last redoubt in the north of the country in the culmination of one of the most spectacular victories of the war on terror."

Someone is winning in Iraq. We are winning. The good guys are winning. See On the cusp of the “most spectacular” victory against Al-Qaeda:

"Did you know that the US and Iraq will shortly conclude “one of the most spectacular victories of the war on terror”?

You wouldn’t if you read American newspapers or watched American television."

Ironically, good news from Iraq is going to make it impossible for Pres. Obama to carry out his campaign promise to withdraw.

Success in Iraq is Obama's worst nightmare!

If elected, it will be Pres. Obama who completes the mission and confirms that removing Saddam Hussein was the right thing to do.

Why? Because Obama is not going to let Iraq collapse.

He won't let the region fall into massive chaos when Iran takes advantage of a premature US withdrawal.

Obama is not going to put the US in a situation where our troops have to go back in!

Therefore, Obama is going to turn out to be a huge disappointment to the anti-war base. Like the "vote for a Dem majority and we will get out Iraq" Congress, the anti-war base will hate Obama as much as they despise Pelosi and Reid!

The anti-war base may put up with Obama's word games during the campaign as the price of getting their guy elected.

They will go crazy when Pres. Obama turns out to be very different. They will go ballistic when Pres. Obama turns out to be the same as Pres. Bush!

I guess that this is what happens when you fall in love with someone who tells you want to hear rather than a leader who tells what you need to hear.

"Already, Obama is changing his tune from his old, irresponsibly heated rhetoric about “immediate” withdrawal to talking about the need for policies that would adapt to the improving conditions in Iraq.

Given Obama’s ideological leanings and inexperience, there’s clearly plenty of potential for him to make costly mistakes.

But odds are he, too, would come to realize that America needs to win the war on terror and succeed in Iraq.

Hence the greatest irony.

A successful Obama presidency would have the unintended consequence of making Bush’s memoir a success story."
