How honest was BO about Iraq?
Once again, let me prepare the "yes we can" screamers for the BO disappointment.
What exactly did BO say about Iraq? The campaign website, as well as the actual campaign, attacked Hillary Clinton for voting, and eventually, supporting the war.
Of course, BO did not have to vote on the war. He was a state senator.
At the same time, what did he really say about Iraq.
"As a candidate for the U.S. Senate in 2004, Obama said he would "unequivocally" oppose President Bush on the war.
But once in office, he voted for every war-funding bill -- until he decided to run for president.
After the invasion, Obama did not favor an immediate pullout from Iraq.
On July 27, 2004, the day after he delivered his brilliant keynote address to the Democratic National Convention, he told the Chicago Tribune that when it came to the war, "there's not much of a difference between my position and George Bush's position at this stage."
In other words, while he opposed the war, he was now committed to seeing it through. That was hardly the position of Moveon.org and other progressive outfits at the time."
BO has run a campaign based on his opposition to the war. He has told the large crowds that he will begin withdrawing troops.
Of course, I don't care about 2002 or 2004. What concerns me is what BO is planning to do now. Based on the success of the surge, it seems irresponsible to send any signals that a Pres. Obama would withdraw troops too quickly.

Now, let's compare BO's confusion with McCain consistent position on Iraq:
Both Obama and Clinton, a couple weeks ago, rushed back to Washington in order to cast a vote on the illegal occupation of Iraq funding. They both voted yes. This is why I'm voting for the Green Party candidate for President. The Green Party has been on the record consistently against the illegal invasion, occupation, and pillaging of Iraq, well before the illegal invasion.
