The Speaker went to Iraq and got a real view of the situation. However, don't expect her to come home and tell the Dems that they are wrong , and worse than that, a bunch of defeatists.
"According to the AP, she "welcomed Iraq’s progress in passing a budget as well as oil legislation, and a bill paving the way for the provincial elections in the fall that are expected to more equitably redistribute power among local officials."
Wouldn't it be nice if Speaker Pelosi could speak truthfully about what she saw?
She could say that the surge is working, political progress is happening and the Iraqi army is turning out to be pretty good.
Unfortunately, she can't. The Dems are so invested in defeat that they can't admit success even when they see it with their own eyes.
If they say that things are better in Iraq then they underscore what McCain is saying!
Success in Iraq is bad for the Dems! It's as simple as that!
"It will be hard for Speaker Nancy Pelosi to go back to her Democratic colleagues and keep declaiming on the House floor about how the surge isn't working in Iraq now that she has been there and seen for herself."
How sad. We are winning the war that Dems overwhelming supported in 2002. However, Bush Derangment Syndrome and MoveOn.org will not allow the Dems to cheer the good news!
