The US soldier is the person of the year

(This picture is from Michael Yon's website)

There are 160,000 soldiers in Iraq, 20,000 in Afghanistan, and many others in South Korea and elsewhere. They come from our communities and schools. There are about a dozen young men from our church serving their country.

One of them, Nathaniel Aguirre from our church, was killed in Iraq in 2006.

We salute them for their fine work in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This is a great story:

"A military working dog wounded in Iraq during a rocket attack that killed its Marine handler was adopted Friday by the slain Marine's family." (Family adopts slain son's military dog)

This is another one:

"Ala'a was 9 years old, strong of will but weak of body — he suffered from cerebral palsy and weighed just 55 pounds. He lived among about 20 kids with physical or mental disabilities at the Mother Teresa orphanage, under the care of nuns who preserved this small oasis in a dangerous place." (GI saves Iraqi boy in long-shot adoption )

So the young boy is now in Wisconsin....living with his new dad. What a story! What a soldier!

We can not say it enough. We are very proud of each and every one of the young people serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Let's not forget the British soldiers doing their share in Iraq and Afghanistan!)
