The justices won't be on the ballot next year. Yet, everybody knows that the future of the Supreme Court is on the line.
Pres. Bush made two great appointments in Mr. Alito and Mr. Roberts. It's possible that he could get another. Who knows? However, the next president will definitely get one or two.
What's at stake? It's easy to talk about abortion but there is a lot more, from states' rights to immigration reform.
This is why the next elections matters. Our 2008 vote will move the Supreme Court, and the rest of the judiciary:
"Ronald Reagan appointed 379 judges in his two terms, and George Bush 192 in his one term. Bill Clinton appointed 372 judges in eight years, and George W. Bush has named 292 in his almost seven years." (200 Reasons Why the Election Matters (The future of the federal judiciary is at stake on November 4, 2008) by Terry Eastland)
Unelected judges engaged in judicial activism are out of control. How do you end it? You vote for a president who will appoint justices and judges who understand their role.
2008 matters a lot. It's all about the judiciary!
