The Gallup tells the story. The US is a religious nation. Americans believe in God:
"Some 94% think God exists. Only 5% feel God "does not exist" -- and even most of them "are not sure" of that. Exactly 1% are certain there is no God."

There is another side to the story. Religious people vote. Lately, they have been voting Republican, which accounts for much of today's electoral map.
Democrats have finally decided to get in the game. I guess that losing will do that to you.

"It also comes as Democrats struggle to convince an increasingly skeptical country that they aren't hostile to religion and that, if anything, their views on such issues as poverty are grounded in the Bible. At the same time, they want to win over some of the values-minded and religious voters who helped give President Bush a second term.
"It's because of what happened in the 2004 election," said John Green, a political scientist at the University of Akron and an authority on the intersection of religion and politics."
Last year, a Pew Research Poll found that married voters, and specially those who attend church very often, went for Pres. Bush. They were the driving force behind the strong Republican showing in the US Senate.
Can Democrats talk about God? Yes, they can.
Can they talk about God, believe in abortion and same sex marriage? I don't think so.
In fact, Democrats have an uphill battle with Hispanics over cultural values.
They are the fastest growing ethnic group and open to hear a liberal economic message. However, the best way to turn off millions of Hispanics is to be the party of abortion and same sex marriage.
The choice is beyond talking about God.
The choice is this: Are you Michael Moore's party? or Harry Truman's party?
