11 million reasons to congratulate the Iraqi people

What a day.

Most of us went to bed as the polls opened and woke up to the news of a heavy turnout. According to the NYTimes, the turnout may have reached 11 million or 70%. It was a day of long lines and little violence. It was a day of smiles and more smiles. Check out the faces of the Iraqi people.

My favorite pictures are those of women and children.

Women voting represent change, a change long overdue in the region. The children represent the future.

We love the people of Iraq for standing up and voting despite the threats.

Once again, thank God for Pres. Bush.
