During the '04 election, I warned my liberal friends to avoid the Bush military service story. I recall this story back in '94 when Bush beat incumbent Richards. It came out during the campaign and Bush answered some questions. Richards dropped it, in the same way that Al Gore killed it in 2000.
I warned my liberal friends to stay away from this story. It was not a story. It was a lot of nonsense promoted by people with an agenda rather than people with the truth.
I said: Don't fall for this garbage. I also told them that Bush would be reelected with a majority of the popular vote and that Republicans would sweep the Senate. But my liberal friends are bad listeners. They should listen to me more often.
The liberals of 2004 could not avoid the red meat of an anti-Bush story. They fell for it like a bunch of suckers eating out of Karl Rove's hand.
Why? Because the liberals of 2004 were so eager to beat Bush that they lost their common sense. It is part of the irrational anti-Bushism that makes good people do stupid things.
As I have written before, anti-Bushism is a disease. It affects your mental system and turns reasonable people into irrational anti-Bushies. It's really sad. They will believe anything and support any conspiracy theory about Bush.
What is the cause of this disease? The 2000 election, of course.
The liberals really hate Gore but they don't have the courage to say so. They hate VP Gore for losing in 2000 despite having incumbency on his side and running against a Texas governor with a famous name.
It was Gore who could not carry Tennessee. It was Clinton who could not deliver Arkansas. In the end, it was Tennessee and Arkansas that gave Bush the presidency.
Florida was an unpleasant distraction from the reality of 2000. Florida was a lot of hot air and massive denial about the fact that Bush won every recount in the state. Can you find one recount of Florida that gave the state to Gore? No. But I will show 6 different recounts, conducted by 6 different newspapers, that supported Bush's win.
The entire Florida myth is now part of the liberal folklore. They repeat this story over and over again. They eat it every morning along with their corn flakes. They cry about it at their conventions.
Yet, I would suggest that liberals read what Peter Kirsanow wrote about this. He is a member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights:
"The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights conducted a six-month investigation of the charges and found absolutely no evidence of systematic disenfranchisement of black voters. The civil-rights division of the Department of Justice also found no credible evidence that any Floridians were intentionally denied the right to vote.
These findings did little to dispel the myth of massive disenfranchisement.
Politicians and activists persisted in circulating outlandish stories of nefarious schemes to steal votes, stories that became more numerous and absurd during the run-up to November 2004."
Conclusion. This is a free country. You have the right to believe the truth or dwell on a lie. I can't help that!
Did Gore win the popular vote in 2000? Yes. But Bush won the electoral college and that's what matters. Don't like it? Amend the constitution.
It is very simple: Arkansas' 6 electoral votes would have put Gore in the White House. Clinton could not deliver them.
Memo to liberals: Be wary of Clinton. He could not deliver his home state to Gore in '00 or Kerry in '04. Clinton also destroyed your party in the 90s. Listen to Clinton at your own risk. In electoral terms, Clinton is a WPD, a weapon of party destruction.
Don't get angry with Bush for winning the election. Get angry with your guys for losing it.
Let's talk about CBS. Dan Rather's ratings have been dropping for years. He is a distant # 3 in most markets. So his producers decided to make a big splash and nail Bush. It was like cutting two bushes with one swipe. Nail Bush and win a Pulitzer with a story claiming that Bush did something wrong back in 1972!
They broadcast a bogus story based on forged documents. It took bloggers a couple of days to destroy the story. It did not take long for experts to look at the documents and realize that they were forgeries.
It was a massive fraud. It blew up in their faces. CBS is now repairing its reputation. Can anyone believe another investigative report from CBS? It's over for Rather and the four producers who were fired today.
This is what happens when you are dealing from hatred. You lose your common sense. Hatred makes people believe anything.
Did a young Bush get help to get into the Guard? He probably did. I can not prove it but he probably did.
Is that fair? I don't know. Life is unfair but I don't waste my time with stuff like that. I work hard and make no excuses.
Was it fair to keep the Massachusetts US Senate seat "open" between 1960 and 1962 for Ted Kennedy? John Kennedy was elected in 1960 but Ted was only 28. The Constitution requires that a Senator be at least 30 years old.
So the seat was somehow kept "open" or "reserved" for Ted until he was old enough to run in 1962.
Is that fair? Probably not. Do I think that John Kennedy was evil for doing this? No.
People will take advantage of their status, whether their name is Bush or Kennedy. Most Americans are smart enough to know that.
The 2004 election was about GWBush as commander in chief not his peformance as a young man in 1972.
The American people answered that question affirmatively in 2004. They gave GWBush a higher percentage of the popular vote than Truman '48, JFK '60, Carter '76 and both Clinton pluralities of '92 and '96.
So here we are. The liberals make fools of themselves again.
Will these people ever get it? I hope not. I want to keep electing more conservative Senators to the US Senate in 2006.
